Giving Into Temptation: I bought this 52-inch Samsung HDTV a couple weeks ago. I found it at Best Buy on a special "open box" sale for one-third off the normal price. I couldn't resist. (The TV stand is a Shift bookcase from Crate and Barrel.)
I've been trying to finish setting up my new studio apartment before school starts again. I've been trying to follow the maxim: "own nothing not useful or beautiful." Here are a few photos to show the progress I've made.
I added a couple of lamps from IKEA. Mom gave me an area rug and some extra pillows she had laying around that really complement the place.
I also bought three Billy bookcases from IKEA to make a library wall in my office area. They hold most of my books...

My apartment continues to be a work in progress, but it is increasingly feeling like home -- being a great place to study, relax, and entertain. It's been wonderful having a place all my own for the first time in four years.
I can honestly say I never expected grad school to be quite this nice!
