The Best Advice on Personal Investment

Jonathan Clements of the Wall Street Journal is probably my favorite financial writer. Here a list of five books he recommends for solid advice on personal investment:

  1. "Money Masters of Our Time" by John Train (HarperCollins, 2000).
  2. "Capital Ideas" by Peter Bernstein (Free Press, 1991).
  3. "Winning the Loser's Game" by Charles Ellis (McGraw-Hill, 2002).
  4. "The Four Pillars of Investing" by William Bernstein (McGraw-Hill, 2002).
  5. "Fooled by Randomness" by Nassim Nicholas Taleb (Thomson Texere, 2004).
One of the things I really appreciate about Clements is his solid, reasoned approach to investing. He focuses on timeless principles, steady investing, avoidance of get-rich quick and market-timing schemes, etc. I would recommend his advice and writing without hesitation.
