Angela Wu continues to impress:
The Becket Fund has named Angela C. Wu, International Director, to serve concurrently in the role of Interim Executive Director. The Becket Fund is expanding its executive team to provide leadership at a time of growth in the need for the defense of religious liberty around the world.
"Angela is a force of nature,” said Becket Fund President Seamus Hasson. “I have no doubt she will do for the entire Becket Fund what she has already done for our international work--double its effectiveness."
“Angela has high energy, an organizational eye, and a passion for the cause,” said Anthony Picarello, Vice President and General Counsel of the Becket Fund. “Those skills will all be great assets as our organization expands its work protecting the vulnerable, whatever their faith, around the world.”
Before joining the Becket Fund, Angela worked at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP in New York, the Organisation for European Co-operation and Devleopment in Paris, and Oxfam America in Boston. She graduated with thesis honors in Modern Intellectual History from Northwestern University and went to Harvard Law School for a J.D., graduating cum laude in 2000. While at Harvard, she ran the Battered Women’s Advoacy Project, edited the Civil Rights/Civil Liberties Law Review and the Harvard Human Rights Journal, and interned for the Department of Justice's Civil Rights Division Appellate Section. In 2001, Angela obtained a D.E.S. in European Law from the Université Libre de Bruxelles while on a Fulbright Fellowship in Brussels, Belgium. She clerked in the federal circuit courts of appeal for the Honorable William W Schwarzer of the Northern District of California in San Francisco from 2002-2003. Angela speaks English, French, Mandarin Chinese, and Taiwanese to varying degrees of fluency. She has testified before the U.S. Congress and United Nations, and writes frequent pieces on religious freedom law around the world.
Not only that, but she's a blogger too!
Please join me in congratulating Angela on her continued success and thanking her for the wonderful work that she does.
