Monday night, I had dinner with Jim and Laura. I hadn't seen them since my going away party in 2005. I've known Laura since I first moved to Orlando back in 1994 and Jim for almost as long.
Laura spoiled us as usual with her out-of-this-world cooking, while Jim and I had our typically great conversation ranging from books to business to theology and everywhere in between. As always, it was great spending time with them. It was also my first time seeing their beautiful new house.
On a sadder note, I also found out their cat, Simba, passed away last November after 15-years. It is hard to believe I had known him since he was just a kitten. He is sorely missed and was much loved by all who knew him.
What was a special delight was that Jim and Laura just got two new cats, Shefan and Botti. Both are ragdoll cats, just like Simba was. Botti in particular took after Simba's personality and love of being loved.
Reconnecting with Laura and Jim reminded me of how much history I have here in Orlando and how much I miss being able to spend time with friends like this.
