The ACLU and Christian "Persecution"

Jane Galt offers some thoughts on the ACLU (emphasis mine):

I love civil liberties. I'm glad the American Civil Liberties Union exists. If I weren't an agnotheist, I'd bless their little hearts in my prayers every night. But I have to admit, more and more frequently, I find myself thinking "Don't they have anything better to do?" I mean, if nativity scenes on public squares are truly the greatest remaining threat to liberty in America, then hey, we might as well fold up the organisation and head home, because folks, we've won.

The Christian corollary to this is that if threats of not being able to display nativity scenes in the public square is our biggest threat to religious freedom, we have little room for complaint about "persecution" in America.  I'm not saying these things don't matter, but they pale in comparison when compared to the arrest, imprisonment, torture, and execution that many Christians have faced in times past and continue to face in some parts of the world today.

See here and here to read what real persecution looks like.
