I came across this last night on BoingBoing, but it looks like Tyler Cowen has beaten me to the punch getting it posted...
See much more data and maps about religion on the Association of Religion Data Archives (ARDA). We saw a presentation on this at the Mercatus Center several weeks ago and it looks like an excellent database for doing research on religion.
As an example of what you can do with this type of information, here's a paper on "Religious Freedom, Religious Persecution, and Religious Violence: New Data and Findings from the Association of Religion Data Archives" . (Courtesy of The Center for the Economic Study of Religion .)
