The Daily Dozen

  1. Honoring the fallen on a Google Earth map.
  2. Southwest Airlines to offer free booze to military personnel on Memorial Day.
  3. Rumor Round-Up: Everything heard about the next iPhone.
  4. FCC's warrantless household searches alarm experts.
  5. $40 computers the size of a hefty electrical plug? Sounds pretty cool to me!
  6. Tips for the best 'staycation' ever.
  7. Cardozo/Posner torts opinions.
  8. The free speech implications of gene patents.
  9. What Lifehacker blogger Gina Trapani carries in her laptop bag. Not so different from me, here daily gear consists of: 1) a laptop, 2) a Kindle, and 3) a notebook. We also both carry a Canon Elph. She uses an old iPod for her portable hard drive whereas I use an 8 GB USB thumb drive.
  10. The power of kimchi!
  11. Was the inability of economists to predict the financial crisis any different from the medical profession's inability to predict the swine flu?
  12. The wonder of economic freedom. One of the great benefits of learning economics has been to gain a much deeper appreciation for things such as this.
