The Daily Dozen

  1. A young medical student tries to decide if she has what it takes to join the diminishing ranks of abortion providers.
  2. Five things you don't want to hear from your financial planner.
  3. Evolutionary Psychology and the Social Sciences.
  4. Trivia question: "What is the shortest amendment in the U.S. Constitution?" This one even stumped a law professor.
  5. Female monkeys like good gossip too.
  6. The 10 most spectacular train journeys in the world. Sadly, I haven't been on any of them.
  7. How to move the economy forward? Unfortunately, nobody knows what to do. The scary part is that some politicians think they do.
  8. The world's best symphony orchestras?
  9. Treasuries as negative beta assets?
  10. The Theory of the Mind, something we were talking about last week in my Neuroeconomics class.
  11. Your personality may be wired in your brain.
  12. Saving money isn't always worth it. A computer monitor is one example given for something worth spending money on: "I bought a 24″ monitor and while part of the reason why I did it was because of my love for expensive gadgets, I also wanted to save myself from going blind. I look at the monitor more than 10 hours a day and my eyes used to be so tired every evening. Since my purchase, my eyes are better since the monitor is further away and I don’t have to squint to read everything on the screen." I'd agree with this and love my 24" monitor. A large monitor not only helps you from going blind, but can be a real boon for your back if you typically use a laptop.
