Thinking Small

Two ways to save money:  Tiny houses and tiny cars.

I like the idea of custom built small houses. I would be more inclined to buy a small home that had built-in storage areas, an efficient layout, lots of natural lighting, and included some easy-to clean features with high-end energy efficient appliances, hardware, and interiors. From the point of view of this mother of two small children and a dog, an attractive home is one where everything we own has a place and where clutter is controlled and clean up is easy so I can spend more quality time with the family and less time cleaning. That said after having my children share a room this year, I would like them to each have their own bedrooms.

I own a '57 starter home Cape Cod - I can cool the place with one window unit (I open up the upstairs) and have to watch my dyer for it'll help heat the house (so I line dry in the summer not to compete with it, but great in the winter). My utility bills are rarely over $100, even in the worst months.
