My writing focuses somewhat narrowly on my interests (health and social policy, inequality, stir fries, etc), so I think I owe you guys a slightly fuller description of my take on the election. And today, a couple hours before Super Tuesday, seems like the right moment. So, without getting into who I support, here, after months of candidate speeches and adviser statements and policy papers and debates, are what I've come to see as the main differences between the candidates...
Ezra then goes on to outline what he sees as the differences between the two on these dimensions:
- Ending the Rhetoric of Militarism
- Health Care
- New Blood
...this is not an endorsement of either candidate. And it is only a partial list of the considerations governing my vote. Tomorrow, I'll have an article on their economic philosophies, and their leadership styles. As leaders, they really do offer massively different models, so stay tuned for that. But this the best I can do for a guide to how to think about your vote. And I should say, too, that I'm conflicted between Clinton and Obama, and I think both strong candidates with remarkable political virtues who have run impressive primary campaigns. This isn't a choice that need be made out of resignation, or exhaustion. It is a choice between two fine candidates, both of whom will push our country in a better direction, and both of whom progressives should feel able to enthusiastically support.
