GW Bush said in an interview this weekend that he believes McCain is a conservative. Is that supposed to make conservatives feel better about McCain? Bush labeling someone a conservative means little. Bush himself is as fiscally liberal as most of your modern, mainstream Democrats. Take a quick look at his record here.

Nope, WRONG. Bush favors tax cuts, no liberal/leftist does, nor any Dem since JFK (I think).
Yes, the budgets the Rep Congress gave Bush were full of pork as well as New Medicare Deal entitlements, but that's at least as much the fault of Congress.
Like me and most pundits, it's easier to focus blame, as well as unjustified hope, on the single President, rather than on the hundreds. Just like the media, who prefer a single gov't agency to a dozen competing private companies providing a more competitive service.
The gov't spending on free lunches for the voters has been what the voters too often vote for, and thus what the winning politicians promise.
Clinton's fine performance was because the Reps opposed overspending on the Dem program. I opposed Kerry, but spending would have been less with him. Presidents do more of what the other party wants, in order to "do more".
