I just got done watching an episode of Planet Earth on Discovery HD on my roommate's 55-inch HDTV. The show is absolutely amazing! This episode documented various lifeforms living in caves around the world including some living in what was essentially sulphuric acid. The show ended showing recently discovered caverns in New Mexico with some of the most gorgeous cave formations I have ever seen.
Apparently, Tyler Cowen likes this show too:
The first disc of this BBC-produced nature series blew me away, buy it here. Amazon calls it "quite simply the greatest nature/wildlife series ever produced," and no it doesn't matter that the narrative is at a fourth-grade level and fails to mention the Hotelling rule or the tragedy of the commons.
I am sorely tempted to buy this DVD collection. If you get a chance, be sure to watch this series -- especially if you have access to an HDTV broadcast. If you don't you are missing out on something truly superb.
See my previous post showing a video introduction to this series.

The wonders of nature surely are among the most inspiring and enjoyable aspects of life.
As more and more people are exposed to these wonders, I think you will see environmentalism become a more and more popular cause.
Going green in the future will be good business, good politics, and good national security.
