William Easterly Teaching at GMU!

Our econ department just sent out an e-mail yesterday informing us that William Easterly is going to be teaching a 1-credit seminar this semester on economic development as a visiting scholar. We'll meet a total of six times throughout the semester. Easterly is the author of The Elusive Quest for Growth: Economists' Adventures and Misadventures in the Tropics and The White Man's Burden: Why the West's Efforts to Aid the Rest Have Done So Much Ill and So Little Good.

Naturally, I had to sign-up! (That gives me a total of 13 credits for this semester...)

William Easterly is one of the top economists in the area of economic development. This is going to be a fantastic opportunity to meet and learn from one of the best minds in the field. Opportunities like this are one of the many reasons I love GMU so much.

Easterly's book, The White Man's Burden, was named among the best books of 2006 by The Economist, The Washington Times, and The Finanical Times. Read many reviews of it here.

Read more about William Easterly here, here, and here.
