Traumatic Brain Injury: A Long Road to Recovery

My friend Michael just forwarded this e-mail to me from his friend Wendy. Wendy’s brother Ted was severely injured while serving in Iraq, experiencing a severe head injury and loosing an arm. Ted has been on a very long road to recovery, but has been some making amazing progress. Here’s the e-mail:

Hello everyone.

As many of you know, Wendy's brother Ted was severely wounded in Iraq just over 3 years ago. He lost an arm and suffered a severe head injury (term = TBI). We have seen the wonderful work of God with him as we were told early on he would not make it and if he did, he would be a "vegetable". His experiences dealing with the military and VA medical system have given he and his wife Sarah a wonderful purpose (crusade) in life as they have worked diligently to improve the process and care for the many who have followed (Ted was an early TBI). They have even testified before numerous committees in Congress. Our move to GA was prompted by the family crisis.

While covering the war, Bob Woodruff, ABC Anchor, suffered a TBI, thus moving this into a very prominent position in the news due to his fame. Last night, they did a kickoff piece on ABC World News (we got late notice, sorry) which featured Ted and Sarah. Please see the link below under "Woodruff's Long Journey to Recovery". You will be AMAZED by some of the pictures and what the doctors can do surgically.

As you can imagine, Bob will be covering TBI and other injuries to our soldiers in the upcoming months and has taken on TBI care as a cause.

In his Name,

Tom & Wendy

Please pray for Ted, Bob, and all the other veterans who have been severely wounded while fighting for their country.
