Google Maps Adds Click-to-Call Feature

Rick Broida:

The next time you use Google Maps to look up a business, click the new "call" link beside the phone number and Google will make the call for you--free of charge.

Specifically, when you click the link, Google calls your phone and automatically connects you to the business. Doesn't matter if the call is local or long distance--Google foots the bill. Your only out-of-pocket expense is if the call gets routed to your cell phone (in which case normal airtime charges apply).

I used this yesterday to order pizza and it worked beautifully! I typed in my address into Google Maps, searched for nearby businesses, found the closest Dominos, clicked "call", and PRESTO! I was connected.

What a great idea!

FaxZero is another clever concept:

It's free and lets you send a PDF or Word document to any fax number in the USA. FaxZero prints an ad on the coversheet, but leaves the main pages uncorrupted (Ad-free faxes are about two bucks). The test fax I sent arrived quickly and with a very crisp, clear resolution.

You're limited to 2 free 3-page faxes a day, and your file attachment size limit is 10MB. The ad, while not something you'd like on professional business faxes, isn't too bad.

I'll have to try this out too!
