'Alive and Well'

This past March, I donated bone marrow for a 66-year-old woman who had lukemia. This morning, I got this wonderful email from the NIH:

I just want to let you know that I received an update on your recipient, dated 09/14/06 – once again, although brief, it states ‘alive and well’.
The message may be brief, but it's also beautiful! Praise God for this wonderful news!

I still stand in awe of all of this. The technology, medical skills, databases, social networks, and dedicated people (both staff and volunteers) all working together to allow this to happen are incredible. It has been such a blessing to have been involved.

Please pray for the recipient's continued healing and health and for a joyfully smooth road ahead for her.

I find it most inspiring that you donated your bone marrow. Few people are willing to do that for strangers. Congrats!
