Optical Illusions

The Repository of Optical Illusions:

A new web site that aspires to be the “biggest and most quality collection” of optical illusions on the web. We hope they keep it up.

We also recommend this catalogue of illusions by Michael Bach and Akiyoshi’s Illusions page.

I have no idea where people come up with ideas like these, but they sure are neat!

In a similar vein is The Droste Effect:

>

The Droste Effect is named after the Dutch Droste company’s famous cocoa packaging in which “the nurse on the package carries a plate with a package, on which there is the same package, etc, etc..”

A page dedicated to the trippy effect, with images and animations, as well as a mathematical explanation.

Click on the imgage below if you'd like to see an animation of the Droste effect in motion.

If you like this kind of stuff, be sure to check out Puzzles.com as well.
