Spring Is Here!
A photo I took of the cherry blossoms near the Tidal Basin in DC this past Saturday. They should be at their peak this weekend. Hope to get more photos soon.
prolly gonna need that lens back pretty soon, amigo. looking to find a camera bag insert for my messenger bag (got an awesome chrome bag; love it) and carry the d40 around w/ me all the time. I might just pop that lens on there and shoot w/ it for a while.
Let me know when I can get this to you. Sorry to keep it for so long. Tried bringing it to lunch a couple of Wednesdays, but missed you. When will you be on campus next?
BTW, I recommend getting the Tenba messenger bag insert at Penn Camera near Foggy Bottom -- walking distance from you. Costs about $30 and fits in my messenger bag perfectly. You can read about it here: http://thinkingonthemargin.blogspot.com/2010/02/turning-your-timbuk2-messenger-into.html. I'd buy it in a heartbeat if I had more lenses.
Nikon's 35mm f/1.8. Shawn lent it to me and I am likely to acquire one very soon. Has great sharpness and bokeh and take fantastic shots in low-light environments. I don't miss my zoom lens at all when it's on my camera.
Prime lenses are often the way to go. Too many people rely on zooms, which have inevitable compromises. Plus with a prime you often get a larger aperture.
As someone once said, often the best zoom is your feet.
Had a good time, Ali, but wish you were still here to see them with. Would have been a great photo shoot with your new camera.
Unfortunately, I went it two Saturdays in a row and the peak happened somewhere in between. Still nice to get in to see them, but the blossoms in Arlington and in Warrenton over Easter were actually fuller than the ones I saw in DC.

Which lens did you use? Nice bokeh.
